Coaches Rule Meeting Attendance
MSHSL Board of Directors policy requires all Head Coaches to attend a rules meeting (if provided for the sport they coach). There are no appeals.

Attendance at rules meetings will be carefully tracked. Head Coaches who do not attend will be required to take the rules test for that sport (same test taken by officials). This written test must be passed (80%) or higher. The test and answer form will be sent to coaches who have not attended a meeting, shortly after all rules meetings have been completed. Coaches will be given a deadline by which to complete the test.

A coach, who does not attend the rules meeting and does not complete the test at the required level, will be subject to a censure by the MSHSL Board of Directors and the school will be subject to a $100 fine. If there is a second offense by the same coach, that coach will not be allowed to coach in post-season play.

All rules meetings contain important information on new rules, points of emphasis, and review of important rules and procedures. In order for our events to be conducted properly it is absolutely necessary for coaches to know the rules of their sport and to be sure that assistant coaches and student athletes are well-informed about rule changes and points of emphasis. This policy will help ensure that coaches and athletes are more knowledgeable about the rules, leading to well conducted events.

Rules Meetings are conducted in all sports except the following:
