When the Proctor Football team ended their historic season, many of the the athletes respective winter sports were waiting for them.
A lot of the players will be exchanging their cleats for a pair of skates.
Head Coach Steve Rodberg Jr. and the rest of the Rails hockey team are looking to do big things in section 5A. Senior
Christian Ripley believes that the team has potential and can make it to the Xcel Energy Center to return to the beloved state hockey tournament for the first time since 1997.
“With the section changing that gives us excitement and hope to make it far this winter,” Ripley said.
With tough competitors Rogers, St. Cloud Cathedral, and rival Hermantown moving out of the section that gives Proctor a better chance to end on top in the section. This boosts the teams confidence and gives the team extra motivation to do well. The teams to beat in the section will be Spring Lake Park, Princeton, and Chisago Lakes.
The Rails will be returning many seniors and that looks to be a strength of the team.
“Our team has a lot of experience and if we can come together and play as a team our team has potential to do well this season,” said Ripley.
The Rails will face off against New Prague in their first game of the season at the Proctor Arena, November 23rd.
The Rails fall sports have set the bar high for success and the winter teams are working hard to continue the dominance of Proctor Athletics.
