| The Moorhead Spuds defeated the Duluth East Greyhounds, 6-3, to advance to the Class AA title game where they will meet Centennial, of Circle Pines, to play for the State Championship trophy. Moorhead junior Cory Loos scored the first goal of the game at 1:01 of the first period. Moorhead had four more goals in the second period, three of them within 42 seconds of each other. Junior Cory Johnson, senior Nick Deutz, senior Nolan Oliver and Loos each shared in the second period goal scoring drive for the Spuds. On a third period power play, Duluth East senior Blaine Gamst scored the first Greyhound goal of the night. Junior Rob Johnson netted the other two Greyhound third period goals. Moorhead had 29 shots on goal, while Duluth East was limited to only 17 shots in the game. An empty net goal, by senior Chris Henry, with 30 seconds remaining on the clock secured the Spuds win. |
