| Lakeville, despite being outshot 40-20 by Elk River, persevered to advance to the Class AA consolation championship game. The Panthers (18-7-5) defeated the Elks 3-2 in overtime. Elk River finishes the season 19-10-1. Junior forward David Olson took advantage of a power-play opportunity to put Lakeville up 1-0 with a little more than four minutes to play in the second period. Elk River then scored back-to-back third-period goals, the first on a power play by junior forward Colin Ostroot and the second by senior forward Dustin Longley. Olson ripped one from the left circle, a short-handed goal with just 29 seconds left to send it into overtime. Lakeville senior forward Aaron Weber buried the game-winner on a rebound four-and-a-half minutes into the extra period. Senior goaltender B.J. O’Brien earned the win and had 38 saves. |
