| The Duluth East Greyhounds defeated the Wayzata Trojans, 7-4, to earn third-place honors at the 2004 Boys' State Hockey tournament. On their third shot of the game, at 4:31 of the first period, Blaine Gamst netted the first Greyhound goal. The Greyhounds had only one shot the rest of the period. On their next shot, at 5:50 of the second period, the Greyhounds scored again to give them a 2-1 advantage. The teams were tied, 3-3, going into the final period of regulation. Greyhound junior Rob Johnson led Duluth East with a hat trick and two assists. Teammate senior Brian Lasky had two power-play goals for the Greyhounds. Duluth East had only 28 shots while Wayzata had 35 attempts to score. |
