| The Stars of Academy of Holy Angels, Richfield, outlasted the Panthers of Lakeville to win the Class AA consolation championship. Both teams scored the game’s only goals in the first period. The winning margin for Holy Angels was 2-1. Lakeville struck first, taking advantage of a power play to go up 1-0 on a goal by junior forward David Olson at 5:05. The Stars’ Tyler Hawkins, a junior forward, tied the game at 9:14 with his second goal of the tournament. A power-play opportunity for Holy Angels was seized by sophomore forward Mike Carman at 15:52 when he slammed home the decisive goal, his team-leading third of the tournament. Sophomore goaltender Keaton Smith took the win and turned away 20 shots on goal. Holy Angels finished the season 25-5-1. Lakeville finished the season 18-8-5. Paid attendance (which does not include Class AA season tickets) for the combined Class A and Class AA consolation championship games was 1,174. |
