| The Hermantown Hawks defeated the Little Falls Flyers, 8-4, to earn third-place honors. The same line scored three consecutive goals, in just 42 seconds late in the period, to take a first period intermission 3-0 lead. Hermantown scored another three goals late in the second period to take a 6-0 lead at the second intermission. With the six goal margin, running time was implemented; however, it lasted for only 21 seconds as Little Falls ninth-grader Ben Hanowski scored early in the third period. The game did return to running time once more, but that was before Little Falls scored three consecutive late period goals, all by sophomore Jared Festler – with all the assists being awarded to Ben Hanowski and sophomore Beau Hanowski. There were 20 penalties in the game, including six in the first, eight in the second and six penalties in the third period. The scoring leaders for the Hawks were junior Ryan Schmidt and sophomore Drew LeBlanc each with two goals and one assist. The win was Hermantown’s second-ever third-place finish. |
