Boys Tennis participants open four days of tournament play that will begin on Tuesday, June 6 and conclude on Friday, June 9. Team championships in two enrollment classes will be played the first two days of the tournament and the final day is devoted to the individual portion of the event. The Class AA tournament is played at the Baseline Tennis Center on the University of Minnesota campus, and just 5.8 miles away, the Class A participants play at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in South Minneapolis.

Wayzata (20-1) earned the top seed in the Class AA field behind a 2023 performance that was perfect against Minnesota opponents. The Trojans’ only loss was a 5-2 setback to Winetka New Trier (Ill.) in late April. Wayzata enters the state tournament on a 16-match winning streak. The Trojans last won a team crown in 2014. Rochester Mayo (21-1) was awarded the No. 2 seed. The Spartans, seeking their first team title since 2011, lost to Wayzata 5-2 on May 10.

Rounding out the top five seeds are No. 3 Blake, No. 4 Mahtomedi and No. 5 Eden Prairie, respectively.

In the Class A tournament, St. Paul Academy is the defending champion, and the Spartans open the quarterfinals against Breck, which it defeated for the small-school crown in 2022. St. Paul Academy and Breck know one another well as both are members of the IMAC conference. St. Paul Academy is seeking its fifth state championship. Breck, the 2021 Class A champion, has a trophy case with 10 team titles.

Two rematches for singles championships could be in store in each class.

Wayzata senior Collin Bedhun is the top seed in the Class AA field and Edina senior Matthew Fullerton is at No. 2. A year ago, Fullerton outlasted Bedhun for the Class AA title. In Class A, Osakis senior Isaac Maddock is the defending champion and the top seed. At No. 2 is Rochester Lourdes senior Marjan Veldic, who, you guessed it, lost to Maddock in the Class A title match.

The singles and doubles championship matches in both classes will be streamed by NSPN.tv. You can find the stream at www.nspn.tv
