John's Journal: 16 Football Teams Get A Head Start On 2023 Season

Practice Is Underway In Preparation For Zero Week Games

A handful of Minnesota high school football teams are on the practice field for the first time today (Aug. 7) as they begin preparations for the 2023 season. Sixteen teams will play Zero Week games on Aug. 24 or 25, while the remaining teams in all fall sports will begin practice one week from today on Aug. 14.

Here is the schedule of Zero Week football games ...

Aug. 24

--Houston at Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons

--Hill City/Northland at Bertha-Hewitt

--Ogilvie at Cromwell-Wright

Aug. 25

--Nevis at Carlton-Wrenshall

--GHEC/Truman at Heron Lake/Okabena-Fulda

--Spring Grove at Mountain Lake

--Lanesboro at Southland

--Sebeka at Verndale
