Former Virginia High School boys’ hockey coach Keith Hendrickson got plenty of things accomplished during his time leading the Blue Devils. And although his coaching days are over, Hendrickson’s impact is still being felt. Recently, Hendrickson got news that he was going to be awarded the John Mariucci Award from the American Hockey Coaches Association.

Jim Galvin, long-time coach, teacher and community member, has been honored by White Bear Lake Area Schools for his decades of service to the school community. The White Bear Lake Area School Board voted at its March 4, 2024 meeting to name the fully renovated White Bear Lake Area High School gymnasium “Galvin Court.”

Today, Hutchinson is known as a football town, having won its seventh state championship in 2023. But in the early 1960s, it was very much a basketball town. The Tigers won the District 12 title in 1963 and placed sixth at the state tournament in 1964.
