South Washington County wins fourth CI championship

Junior forward Tyler Tinucci led South Washington County to the CI title with a 3-1 victory over Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee. Tinucci had two goals for the Thunderbolts and senior forward Brian Barcelon added one goal and two assists. This was the fourth championship for South Washington County. They finished as runners-up in 2018.

Junior Nathan Castaneda of Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee struck first, five minutes into the game, but Tinucci evened the score less than two minutes later. Barcelon gave South Washington County a one-goal advantage less than five minutes into the second half and Tinucci accounted for the final goal three minutes later.

South Suburban rebounded to claim third-place honors after defeating Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville 5-3. Sophomore forward Gabe Imafidon and senior center Isaac Honold each had a pair of goals for South Suburban. Sophomore defender Caleb Garvin had two goals for Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville.

Dakota United beat the defending champions from St. Cloud Area 3-0 in the consolation final. Freshman forward Thomas Christopherson, junior forward Ashton Parupsky, and seventh-grade defender Greidin Corley accounted for the Hawks’ goals.
