A Positive Message From A Soccer Official

Here's a positive message sent to the MSHSL from an official who worked a girls/boys soccer doubleheader between Buffalo and Minnetonka...

"This was the opening game of the soccer season under COVID modifications. Having now seen a few games since, my thoughts come back to this game and how impressed I was with how EVERYONE associated with this game handled COVID modifications.

"From the site crew at Minnetonka who set up individual chairs at least 6 feet apart all the way down both sidelines, to having teams on opposite sides of the field, to the PA announcer who made frequent announcements reminding fans to wear their masks whenever they left their seats, to the players and coaching staff who even had coaching at halftime with a large COVID-spaced circle.

"Players often gave "air-high 5's" to teammates so that they were not needlessly making physical contact with their teammates. Everyone did a FABULOUS job aiming to have all personnel spaced from players, and encouraging players to stay spaced from each other when not playing the game.

"Looking back, this game set the bar of expectations in my mind of what a game should look like under COVID modifications and no school or team has even come close to the school's preparation and to the behavior of both teams/coaches. WELL DONE MINNETONKA for hosting and BUFFALO as the opponent in both the Boys and Girls varsity soccer games! Everyone did an EXCELLENT job!"
