1. What was the previous name of Alexandria Area High School?

Jefferson High School. The school was renamed in 2014 following an extensive remodeling project.

2. When did Pipestone Area High School win its first-ever state championship?

In 2007, the girls basketball team defeated Albany to win the Class AA title for the school’s historic first championship.

3. What was the first high school in the City of Minneapolis?

Minneapolis Central. The high school took root in the 1860s when Union Elementary added high school-level education to the curriculum. The Minneapolis Board of Education opened the doors to Central High School in 1878. The second Central High School building remained open until 1982.

4. When was the first school session in Albert Lea?

The Albert Lea Tribune shared in a history of area education that the first school session was held on Dec. 5, 1857 in a building that was a store.

 

5. True or False? Boy Tennis has only been held as a spring activity

False. In 1960, the state tournament was held in the fall with Stillwater winning the team title. In all other seasons beginning in 1950 and to the present, Boys Tennis has been a spring activity.
