New in 2025: The League Journal, a newsletter from the Minnesota State High School League
Posted: Wednesday, September 3, 2025 - 8:00 AM

Our staff at the Minnesota State High School League is surrounded by murals on the office walls, featuring photos of students participating in each of the 51 activities the League sponsors.
Some are from small towns. Some are from big cities. Some are athletes. Some are artists. Some are state champions. Most, naturally, are not. All participated in education-based activities. All represented their schools and their communities. And every student has a story.
Those murals serve as a constant reminder of the League’s mission to provide educational opportunities for students through interscholastic athletics and fine arts programs and provide leadership and support for member schools.
Part of that mission is telling their stories. That’s where The League Journal comes in.
Launching on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, The League Journal is a complimentary, weekly newsletter with stories about member schools, students, teams and communities sent directly to your email inbox. Our staff will also share regular updates from the League office. You’ll see some of these stories on MSHSL.org and our social media channels, but signing up for The League Journal ensures you don't miss anything.
If you noticed a familiar word in the name, that’s intentional. John Millea’s heartwarming and insightful Minnesota stories penned in "John's Journal" for the last 15 years serve as an example for The League Journal to follow while evolving the distribution method.
Signing up to receive this newsletter is another way you’re supporting education-based activities. So, on behalf of the League and its member schools, thank you for joining us.
