Clay Target 2025: Field is set for the final League event of the school year

One final Minnesota State High School League State event takes place on Friday, June 20 with the annual Clay Target State Tournament at the Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake.
Forty teams will assemble for the annual event, as well as 101 boys in the Open Division and 22 in the Girls Division.
Prior Lake was the team champion in 2024 and has qualified for a chance to successfully defend its crown. The Lakers have qualified third behind Hibbing and Stewartville.
Other teams participating, in order of qualification: Wheaton, Wayzata, Ortonville, Brandon-Evansville, Lakeville South, Alexandria, Rosemount, Park Rapids, Princeton, Minnewaska Area, Austin, St. Michael-Albertville, Fairmont, Sibley East, Forest Lake, Kittson County Central, Badger/Greenbush-Middle River, Melrose, Tri-City United, Annandale, Hermantown, Fergus Falls, Glencoe-Silver Lake, Sebeka, Detroit Lakes, Proctor, Spring Grove, Lakeview, Foley, Frazee-Vergas, Minneota, Stephen-Argyle, New Prague, Bemidji, Eden Valley-Watkins, Worthington and Grand Rapids.
In the individual competition, Monticello’s Lance Klersy returns with a chance to win a second consecutive crown. A year ago, he and Alden-Conger’s Ross Huper were the only two competitors to record perfect scores of 100 in the Open Division.
Fairmont’s Dane Breitbarth, third a season ago, is expected to challenge for a title along with Buffalo’s Andrew Schmidt, who was fourth.
In the Girls Division, Foley’s Delayna Rife is the top returnee. She was the runner-up a season ago. Ashley Sarvie of Hopkins, who was fifth in 2024, is also expected to challenge for a title.
The team competition begins at 9 a.m., and the individual tournament will start at approximately at 1 p.m.
