1. What kind of award did a student-participant receive in the early 1980's when they earned "the highest rating for perfection" in Music?

A paper Certificate of Merit that measured 8.5 inches wide by 5.5 inches high. 

2. Among the all-time leaders in football coaching victories, who has the most ties?

Osseo's John Hansen, who had 259 career victories and 105 losses, also had 13 ties. He retired in 1992 after 40 seasons of coaching. He is No. 23 all-time in victories. 

 

3. What is the shortest distance ever run in the Boys Cross Country State Meet?

A 1.8-mile course at Lake Nokomis Park in South Minneapolis was the venue for the Boys Cross Country State Meet from 1944 through 1963. In that span, Minneapolis Southwest won 10 team championships. Minneapolis Roosevelt, whose home course was Lake Nokomis, won twice. 

 

 

4. What famous actor graduated from Minneapolis South High School in 1996?

Josh Hartnett began his high school years at Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul before heading west of the Mississippi River to continue high school and graduate from South. He played football until he was sidelined with a knee injury. He then participated in theater.

5. Who holds the longest standing record set at the Girls Swimming and Diving State Meet?

In 2010, Eden Prairie's Rachel Bootsma set what was then a national record of 51.53 seconds in the 100 backstroke.
