Sartell seeks fifth consecutive High Kick title

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. --- The Dance Team State Tournament is scheduled for March 12-13 at Edina High School. Here is a look at the tournament:

Schedule is the same for both days:

Class AAA - 9:00 a.m.

Session Entrance Times 8:40, 10:00, 11:20

Class A - 1:15 p.m.

Session Entrance Times 12:55, 2;15, 3:35

Class AA - 5:30 p.m.

Session Entrance Times 5:10, 6:30, 7:50

Tickets: Because of COVID-19 restrictions, tickets are not available to the general public. Each school received an allotment of tickets.

Team Preview

Jazz: Two of the three Jazz champions return to defend their 2020 titles: Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd in Class A and Eastview of Apple Valley in Class AAA. If Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd wins this year, it would be the third consecutive and overall title for the Shadows. The Eastview Lightning are looking for their second consecutive and sixth Jazz title. Fifteen of 18 finalists from 2020 return to compete in the 2021 tournament.

Class A Qualifiers: (Section 1) Zumbrota-Mazeppa, St. Charles, and Lake City; (Section 2) Holy Family Catholic of Victoria, Cannon Falls, and PACT Charter School of Ramsey; (Section 3) Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd, Yellow Medicine East of Granite Falls, and Minnewaska Area of Glenwood; (Section 4) Frazee, Crosby-Ironton, and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.

Class AA Qualifiers: (Section 1) Faribault, Simley of Inver Grove Heights, and Cretin-Derham Hall of St. Paul; (Section 2) St. Francis, Benilde-St. Margaret’s of St. Louis Park, and Hermantown/Proctor; (Section 3) Mound Westonka, Orono, and Belle Plaine; (Section 4) Sartell, St. Cloud Cathedral, and Rocori of Cold Spring.

Class AAA Qualifiers: (Section 1) Eastview, Lakeville North, and Lakeville South; (Section 2) Wayzata, Maple Grove, and Edina; (Section 3) Centennial of Circle Pines, Spring Lake Park, and Mounds View; (Section 4) Brainerd, Blaine, and Anoka.

High Kick: All three of the 2020 champions will try to defend their titles in the High Kick category: Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd in Class A, Sartell in Class AA, and Eastview in Class AAA. If Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd wins, it would be the third consecutive and overall title for the Shadows. Sartell is seeking its fifth consecutive crown and seventh overall and Eastview is in the hunt for its second consecutive and 13th overall championship. Of the 2020 finalists, 13 return to compete in the High Kick category.

Class A Qualifiers: (Section 1) St. Charles, Zumbrota-Mazeppa, and Lake City; (Section 2) Cannon Falls, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, and Holy Family Catholic; (Section 3) Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd, Yellow Medicine East, and Minnewaska Area; (Section 4) Bagley, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, and Aitkin.

Class AA Qualifiers: (Section 1) Faribault, Austin, and Simley of Inver Grove Heights; (Section 2) Benilde-St. Margaret’s, St. Francis, and Zimmerman; (Section 3) Orono, Mound Westonka, and Belle Plaine; (Section 4) Sartell, St. Cloud Cathedral, and Rocori.

Class AAA Qualifiers: (Section 1) Eastview, Lakeville North, and Lakeville South; (Section 2) Wayzata, Chaska, and Eden Prairie; (Section 3) Centennial, Spring Lake Park, and Mounds View; (Section 4) Brainerd, Anoka, and Sauk Rapids-Rice.
