2023 Adapted Soccer Day 1 Recap

All four of the top seeds advanced to the semifinals in the PI and CI Divisions of the 2023 Adapted Soccer State Tournament. Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka and Minneapolis South advanced in PI and St. Cloud Area and Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville advanced in CI.

Champions will be crowned at Stillwater Area High School on Saturday, Nov. 18. 

PI Summary

Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka, which received a bye in the first round, and Rochester will meet in the first PI championship semifinal game. Minneapolis South and Dakota United will meet in the second.

Rochester defeated St. Paul Humboldt 4-3 behind two goals apiece from eighth-grade wing Cooper Morrissey and junior center Braxton Small. Minneapolis South got four goals and two assists from junior forward Lindasue Anderson and the Tigers went on to defeat Anoka-Hennepin 12-3.

In the final quarterfinal of the evening, Dakota United defeated Park Center 5-4. Junior forward Reece Martin led the Hawks with four goals and one assist.

CI Summary

St. Cloud Area will face off against Dakota United in the first semifinal on Saturday. Stillwater/Mahtomedi and Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville will meet in the second.

St. Cloud Area needed a 2-1 overtime shootout to move past St. Paul Johnson 3-2. Seventh-grade forward Isaiah Kuschel paced the Crush with two goals in regulation and the first goal in the shootout. Sophomore forward Kevin Dunham sealed the victory for St. Cloud Area after making the second goal in the shootout.

In other CI quarterfinal action, Dakota United defeated South Washington County 6-1. Junior forward Makai Mejia and senior forward Mark Manwarren netted two goals apiece for the Hawks. In the third quarterfinal, Stillwater/Mahtomedi edged Park Center 9-8. Junior forward Mason Mora-Clark led the Ponies with five goals and eight assists.

Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville was the final team to advance. The Blazing Cats had six goals from senior forward Caden Roseth.
