Adapted Floor Hockey: 2024 State Tournament Day 1 Recap

The Minnesota State High School League’s Adapted Floor Hockey State Tournament began on Friday, March 8 at Coon Rapids High School with 16 teams among two divisions matching up in quarterfinal play. With a trip to the championship semifinals on the line, check out how each team did below. 

CI Division 

  • Dakota United avenged its loss in last year’s state third-place game to Maple Grove with a 9-6 win. The Hawks scored three goals in each period. 
  • New Prague/TCU/LSH/Belle Plaine/Jordan topped South Suburban 9-2. The Trojans had a balanced scoring attack getting two goals each from Carter Tupy, Lorelai Hamre, Logan Bermel and Elliot Soukup. Trystan Seger added a goal to the total for the Trojans.  
  • Stillwater/Mahtomedi defeated St. Cloud Area 13-3. Mason Mora-Clark scored 11 goals to lead the Ponies and his total tied a state tournament record for most goals scored in a single game.
  • Defending CI Champion Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville scored fifteen goals on the way to defeating Mankato. The Blazing Cats were led by seniors Riley Deutsch with four goals and Clarke Ruhland with five.  

PI Division 

  • Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka defeated South Suburban by a score of 12-2. Jose Leon Estrada led the Robins with four goals and three assists. Robbinsdale is the top-seeded PI team in the tournament.  
  • Rochester advances to tomorrow’s semifinal play with a 4-3 win over Maple Grove. Junior Andrew Westerman had a hat trick to lead the Raiders in scoring
  • No. 2 Dakota United defeated St. Paul Humboldt 9-1. Dakota United was led by sophomore Jae Bahma’s hat trick. Junior Cayden Needham added two goals for the Hawks.  
  • Defending PI champion Brainerd was led by seventh grader Josh Pence’s hat trick in their win 10-0 win over Minneapolis South. Brainerd entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed.
