Adapted Softball Day 1 Recap

Two championships will be at stake on Saturday, June 4, 2022 when the Minnesota State High School League’s Adapted State Tournament concludes at Chanhassen High School. Two semifinal games in each of the CI and PI Divisions will be played to determine who advances to title games.

Semifinals in the PI Division begin at 10:30 a.m., while semifinalists in the CI Division will square off at noon. The PI championship game is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. At 3:45 p.m., the CI semifinalists will play for the crown.

Here is a look at what happened in Friday’s quarterfinals.

CI Division

New Prague, the No. 4 South seed, recorded an upset with a 22-14 victory over No. 1N North Suburban in the quarterfinals. The Trojans scored the maximum five runs in four of the game’s five innings to improve to 4-6 on the season. Senior shortstop Evan Minar, junior first baseman Aaron Adamson, sophomore pitcher Trystan Seger and eighth-grade third baseman Carter Tuby all had four hits to pace the Trojans. Senior third baseman Andrew Conant and senior first baseman Quintayvion Gilmer each had three hits and scored three times for the Cougars (7-2).

Junior centerfielder Thomas Christopherson scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning off an RBI single by freshman shortstop Colin Price to send Dakota United to a 3-2 victory over Osseo.

Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee, the No. 3 seed in the South Division, scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally past No. 2N St. Cloud Area for a 20-17 victory. Senior shortstop Jake Getsch triggered the comeback with a two-run homer, knocking in junior pitcher Drew Hennen, who had led off the inning with a double. Goetsch finished with four hits. Freshman Amara Ross had four hits for St. Cloud Area.

Sophomore first baseman JT Koczur and junior shortstop Aaron Blood had three hits apiece and each scored three runs to power Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville to a 15-5 victory over South Washington County.

 

PI Division

Just one game was played in the PI Division.

Senior infielder Stuart Batterson had two hits, two runs scored and two runs batted in to power (2S) Rochester to a 15-2 victory over (N3) Osseo in four innings. Freshman infielder Connor Blair-Franz was also 2 for 2 with two runs scored. Senior catcher Sophie McElwee, freshman centerfielder Bryan Lopez and seventh-grade shortstop Ben Pfeifer had two hits for the Orioles.
