Boys Basketball, Class AA semifinal: Albany 79, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 64

Albany became the final of eight teams to secure a win in the semifinals of the 2023 Boys Basketball State Tournament and advance to tomorrow’s championship games. Albany (31-1) defeated Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 79-64 and will play in their first-ever Class AA State Championship game. Albany’s lone loss this season came to Holy Family Catholic in December; Holy Family Catholic will play in tomorrow’s third-place game after a loss earlier tonight to Minnehaha Academy 

Albany took the lead two minutes into the game and never trailed after that point. The Huskies led 34-27 at halftime.  

Senior guard Tyson Gerads led Albany in scoring with 31; teammate Sam Hondl added 14 .  

Owen Leach, a senior guard, led Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton with 30. 

#2 Albany, the 6AA champion, defeated unseeded Pequot Lakes 69-53 in Tuesday’s quarterfinals. The Huskies, who have made four previous state tournament appearances, last qualified in 2015.  

Unseeded Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, the 8AA champion, defeated #3 Plainview-Elgin-Millville 63-61 in Tuesday's quarterfinals. The Rebels have qualified twice previously for the state tournament in 2004 and 2016.  

Albany will take on Minnehaha Academy for the Class AA Boys Basketball State Championship to be played Saturday, March 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Target Center. 

Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton will meet Holy Family Catholic in the third-place game on Saturday, March 25 at 12:00 p.m. at Concordia University.
