Posted: Friday, April 2, 2021 - 12:39 PM

In a back-and-forth game that featured great action at each end, top-seeded Gentry Academy defeated No. 3 East Grand Forks 5-3.

The Stars tied the game 3-3 when junior forward Barrett Hall powered the puck past senior goalie Cole Quirk 44 seconds into the third period. Gentry Academy pushed its lead to 4-3 when sophomore forward Wes Berg hit senior defenseman Andrew Mosley with a perfect centering pass right in front of the net which Mosley put over the shoulder of Quirk.

East Grand Forks tried to rally, but seemed to lose all momentum when Gentry Academy senior forward Nick Sajevic added an insurance goal at 10:26 of the third period. Assists on that goal came from senior forward Damon Furuseth and junior defenseman Conner Brown.

East Grand Forks (14-9-0) jumped to an early 2-0 lead on goals from sophomore forward Jaksen Panzer and junior defenseman Trey Ausmus. Hall tallied his first goal of the game 16:23 of the first and the Green Wave took a 2-1 advantage into the break.

Gentry Academy (18-0-0) will face either Dodge County or Little Falls in the Class A title game. That match-up is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 3.
