Change to Girls Hockey Class AA State Tournament Bracket

Posted: Wednesday, March 24, 2021 - 4:38 PM

Earlier this afternoon, the Minnesota State High School League was notified by Centennial High School that due to COVID Quarantine, their girls hockey team is unable to participate in the State Girls Hockey Tournament.

“This year continues to create incredibly unfortunate situations for many student-athletes,” said Erich Martens, MSHSL Executive Director.  “It’s heart-breaking when a team that has worked hard to achieve a dream of playing in a state tournament has their opportunity affected by COVID.”

Centennial, the Section 5AA champion, was scheduled to play Edina at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021. The League considered options for a replacement team, but was unable to implement a plan.  As a result, Edina, the number two seeded team, will advance to the semi-finals of the State Tournament to be played on April 1 at 6:00 p.m. at the Xcel.
