LeRoy-Ostrander, the Section 1 champion, continued its drive for a first-ever Prep Bowl championship with a 49-0 victory over Kittson County Central in the Class Nine-Man semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 18 at U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.

Senior quarterback Chase Johnson powered the Cardinals (11-2) with 229 yards on 21 attempts and scored three touchdowns. He averaged 10.9 yards per carry, his longest gain a 49-yarder. Through the air, he completed 4 of 6 passes for 66 yards. Senior backfield mate Tanner Olson chipped in 111 yards on 22 carries and two other touchdowns. The Cardinals, in control from the start, compiled 479 total yards on 60 plays.

LeRoy-Ostrander, which finished as the Class Nine-Man runner-up in 1993 and 1995, built a 28-0 lead at the half behind two touchdowns from Johnson. Later, he capped his day with a 49-yard touchdown scamper that featured a creative weave through defensive traffic. That gave the Cardinals a 43-0 advantage with 1:39 left in the third quarter.

Kittson County Central (10-3), the Section 8 champion, was paced by junior quarterback Braden Faken, who completed 6 of 11 passes for 96 yards.
