Class AA Boys Hockey State Consolation Final Edina 3, Moorhead 2, OT

Edina turned to come-from-behind efforts on Saturday, March 12, 2022, to record a 3-2 overtime victory over Moorhead in the Class AA consolation final of the Boys Hockey State Tournament at 3M Arena at Mariucci.

Sophomore forward Jackson Nevers scored two goals sandwiched around one from senior forward Willy Johnson to give the Hornets (22-9-0) a victory in the season finale. After trailing by two goals early in the second period, Nevers ignited a three-goal run with a power-play goal late in the second period. Johnson then forced the extra session with a goal scored just more than two minutes into the third period.

The deadlock couldn’t be broken until Nevers connected on an even-strength goal in the extra session.

Senior forward Gavin Lindberg had both goals for Moorhead 22-8-1.
