Posted: Friday, November 19, 2021 - 9:50 PM

The Minnetonka Skippers look strong heading into the Class AA swimming finals. The Skippers, who won all three relays in 2019, posted the fastest preliminary times in the same races on Friday night. They had 1:43.66 in the 200 medley, 1:35.68 in the 200 freestyle and 3:29.41 in the 400 freestyle.

Senior Regan Miller and freshman Annabelle Wentzel swim on both the 200 medley and the 200 freestyle teams, and senior Nadia Helm is on the 200 and 400 freestyle teams.

Minnetonka senior Quinci Wheeler and sophomore Paige Dillon round out the 200 medley team, while senior Rachel Shelstad completes the 200 freestyle team. Seniors Maija Kangas, Addie Diaz and Audrey Soetanto join Helm on the 400 freestyle team.

Claire Reinke, a junior from Wayzata, is the only other entrant looking to build on a 2019 gold-medal finish. She won the 100 butterfly that year and has this year’s best preliminary time of 54.85.

Two swimmers come into Saturday’s final with the best preliminary time in two races. Andover freshman Grace Robb finished at 2:03.05 in the 200 individual medley and 54.68 in the 100 backstroke. Eden Prairie sophomore Caroline Larsen posted 1:01.33 in the 100 breaststroke and 22.85 in the 50 freestyle.

The Class AA swimming and diving finals are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 20.
