Dakota United PI clinches fourth consecutive title with 61st straight win

It was a great tournament for the Dakota United Hawks at the 2025 Adapted Softball State Tournament. They swept the titles in both divisions for a second consecutive year. The PI team finished with a record of 10-0 and has won an astounding 61 games in a row. The CI squad finished with a record of 9-1.
CI Division
Championship Game
Dakota United 4, New Prague 2
Dakota United, the No. 2S seed, broke through with back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning to go up 3-0 in the CI title game. The Hawks also got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning when they caught a fly ball to centerfield and doubled up a New Prague runner. Both teams played stellar defense the entire game with amazing fielding and catching.
This was the second consecutive and overall championship for Dakota United. New Prague, which placed third in the 2024 tournament, defeated Dakota United 11-8 in the season-opener for both teams.
Third Place Game
Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville 9, South Washington County 8
The Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville Blazing Cats (No. 3S) took home the third-place trophy after defeating South Washington County (No. 4S) 9-8. These teams met earlier in the season, with the Blazing Cats winning with the identical score of 9-8.
Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville went home with runner-up honors in 2024 and South Washington County was sixth.
Consolation Final
Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee 16, Osseo 4
Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee defeated Osseo 16-4 in the consolation final. The Southern Stars came in as the 4N seed and Osseo was 1N. These two teams did not meet during the regular season.
Osseo placed fourth in 2024 while Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee fell in the consolation semifinals.

Championship Game
Dakota United 14, Rochester 4
The Dakota United Hawks have won 61 games in a row after clinching a fourth consecutive title. The top-seeded Hawks defeated No. 2 Rochester 19-4 in four innings in this year’s championship game. This was also the second time these two teams met this season. The Hawks won the first game 14-4.
“To say I’m proud of what our team has been able to do over a span of seven seasons would be an understatement,” said Dakota United head coach Brett Kosidowski after the title game. “The ability to have turned over our team numerous times from one group of amazing kids to the next is a direct reflection of District 196’s ongoing support of our adapted athletics programs. We are grateful to be part of a community that truly believes in the potential of all athletes, no matter what their abilities may be.”
In addition to the past four years, Dakota United also won in 2006, 2008, 2016 and 2020.
The runner-up showing was an improvement for the Raiders; they placed third in 2024.
Third Place Game
Osseo 14, Minneapolis South 6
The No. 3 Osseo Orioles claimed third-place honors after defeating the No. 4 Minneapolis South Tigers 14-6. This was the second consecutive fourth-place showing for Tigers. The Orioles went home with consolation honors in 2024.
Osseo narrowly defeated Minneapolis South 9-8 in late April.
Consolation Final
South Suburban 13, Anoka-Hennepin 10
The South Suburban Flyers met the Anoka-Hennepin Mustangs in the consolation final, with the Flyers coming away with a 13-10 victory. South Suburban came into this year’s event as the No. 5 seed and Anoka-Hennepin was No. 6.
Both teams fell in the consolation semifinals at the 2024 tournament. They also met earlier this season with South Suburban posting a narrow 12-11 victory.
