High school football, a staple in Minnesota for more than 100 years, begins a three-week state tournament run on Thursday, Nov. 11 and continues to the culmination of Prep Bowl champions on Saturday, Nov. 27. In between, 56 schools in seven enrollment classifications will play their way from various quarterfinal games held at various Minnesota sites to the semifinals and championship rounds at U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.

It is the first state tournament to be held since 2019. In 2020, the event was cancelled amid a global pandemic. The 2020 football season culminated at the section level.

Of the seven champions that were crowned in 2019, just one, Wayzata in Class AAAAAA, has returned. Eden Prairie an 11-time champion in the big-school class is also in the Class AAAAAA field.

In Class AAAAA, two lower-bracket quarterfinals highlight powerful matchups on Saturday, Nov. 13. No. 1 Mankato West (10-0) takes on No. 4 St. Thomas Academy (10-0) at Prior Lake High School. In the quarterfinal slot ahead of them, No. 2 Andover (10-0) plays No. 3 Rogers (9-1) at Osseo. The winners from those quarterfinal games play one another on Nov. 20 at U.S. Bank Stadium in the semifinals.

School Space Media will live stream all quarterfinal and semifinal games. Find the stream at www.prepspotlight.tv
