Girls Gymnastics: Kelley of Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka, Schaefer of St. Cloud defend all-around titles

Seniors Reagan Kelley of Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka (Class A) and Taylar Schaefer of St. Cloud (Class AA) were both successful in defending their respective 2022 all-around titles. Schaefer swept all four events on her way to the championship, while Kelley also captured first place on the vault.

Class A

Reagan Kelley of Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka captured her second consecutive Class A all-around title with a four-event combined score of 38.5750. She also captured first place on the vault with a final tally of 9.8625.

Senior Brittney Krumrei of Big Lake claimed runner-up honors in the all-around with a score of 38.1125. Sophomore Dakota Esget of North Branch Area placed third at 37.5125.  Krumrei claimed the top spot in the floor exercise (9.5625) and Esget won the uneven bars (9.5625).

Junior Avery McAllister of Perham/New York Mills emerged as the winner on the balance beam. Her score was 9.5750.

Class AA

St. Cloud’s Taylar Schaefer turned in a stellar performance in Class AA. Schaefer swept all four events and earned her second consecutive crown in the all-around with a score of 38.4375. She also captured her second consecutive championships on the vault (9.8250), balance beam (9.5625) and floor exercise (9.5250). Her title on the uneven bars (9.5250) was an improvement on last year’s 12th-place showing.

St. Michael-Albertville junior Jackie Bergeron placed second in the all-around at 37.8625 and Forest Lake junior Samanatha Ernst was third with a score of 37.6375.
