Girls Lacrosse Semifinal - Lakeville South 10, Rosemount 9

Posted: Thursday, June 17, 2021 - 5:15 PM

Two late Lakeville South goals from freshman midfielder Tori Tschida and freshman midfielder Sivanna O’Brien made all the difference in the Cougar’s 10-9 semifinal victory over Rosemount. Tschida’s goal at 21:14 of the second half broke an 8-8 tie and O’Brien’s, scored less than a minute later, pushed it to 10-8 in the Cougar’s favor. Rosemount junior midfielder Emma Duchscherer struck at 24:11, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

Tschida finished the game with four points on two goals and two assists and junior attacker Lauren Sheets added four goals. Junior goalie Lindsay Wirfs kept Lakeville South in the game with 10 saves.

Junior midfielder Sayla Lotysz was the top point-scorer for No. 3 Stillwater Area; she tallied three goals and one assist. Duchscherer and junior midfielder Ava Whelan scored two goals apiece for the Ponies.

This was the second time these two teams met this season. Lakeville South won 14-11 in late April.

No. 2 Lakeville South will face No. 4 Benilde-St. Margaret’s or No. 1 Prior Lake in the girls title game.
