Minnehaha Academy and Breck will meet for the third time this season with plenty of stake. The Redhawks set that Class A championship pairing on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Cotter in the semifinals of the Girls Soccer State Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Sophomore forward Berit Parten scored two goals while sophomore midfielder Greta Carlson added a goal and an assist for the No. 2-seeded Redhawks. In the earlier semifinal, No. 5 Breck zipped to a 4-1 victory over No. 1 Holy Family Catholic.

In two games during the Independent Metro Athletic Conference season, Minnehaha Academy (15—2-2) tied Breck in the second game of the season and then posted a 3-2 victory two weeks later.

Sophomore forward Sadie Benson opened the scoring for Minnehaha Academy in the 15th minute on a one-timer. Two minutes later, Parten scored her 44th goal of the season when she outdueled Cotter senior goalkeeper Tess Mullen. The Redhawk tacked on two more goals in the second half when Carlson scored from 30 yards in the 43rd minute. Parten completed the scoring with a goal in the 68th minute. Cotter (17-2-2) will play Holy Family Catholic for the third-place trophy on Friday.
