BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. --- The 2022 Minnesota State High School League Debate State Tournament has been moved to a virtual format. The tournament is scheduled for Jan. 14-15.

The virtual format that will be used was successfully implemented for the 2021 Debate State Tournament and has been utilized this season as well for some tournaments. In the virtual format, qualifiers and judges will be able to participate regardless of their quarantine status.

The decision was made in conjunction with the leadership of the Minnesota Debate Coaches Association and other stakeholders. The safety of participants, coaches and judges in the wake of rising case counts of COVID-19 virus was paramount.

The Debate State Tournament is the League’s longest-running event. This year’s tournament will mark its 121st year.
