One Act Play State Festival, 2023: Advance News Release

Sixteen productions will take to the stage during the 2023 One Act Play State Festival on February  9-10. The festival will be held at the O’Shaughnessy on the University of St. Catherine campus in St. Paul. The Class AA productions will be staged on Thursday and the Class A performances will follow on Friday.

Here is a snapshot of the festival:

  • Three schools that earned “starred performances” in 2022 return for this year’s event: Belle Plaine in Class A and Cambridge-Isanti and Alexandria Area in Class AA.
  • Park Rapids Area (Class A) leads both classes in number of appearances. The Panthers are making their 31st appearance at this year’s festival. In that time, they earned 16 “starred” ratings.
  • Eagan leads Class AA in both number of appearances and “starred performances.” The Wildcats are returning for their 23rd appearance and are looking for their 20th “starred” rating.
  • Three schools are making their debut appearances at this year's event: Southland and New Life Academy of Woodbury in Class A and Spring Lake Park in Class AA.
