Four girls’ lacrosse quarterfinals were played at Roseville Area High School on Tuesday June 14 and the semifinal field is set for Thursday, June 16. No. 3 Rosemount will take on No. 2 Lakeville South and No. 4 Benilde-St. Margaret’s will face off against top-seeded Chanhassen.

Lakeville South and Rosemount placed second and third, respectively, at the 2021 state tournament. The Cougars and Storm also met early in the season this year, with Lakeville South winning 10-8.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s placed fourth at last year’s tournament but fell to Chanhassen 10-6 in late May this year.

No. 3 seed Rosemount overcame a tough challenge from Andover in the first quarterfinal of the day. But balanced scoring eventually led to a 10-7 victory for the Irish. Four different players netted two goals apiece for Rosemount: seniors Sayla Lotysz and Emma Duchscherer and freshmen Emma Theisen and Ella Mills. Lotysz also had two assists for Rosemount.

Lakeville South, the No. 2 seed, posted a 10-9 victory over Elk River/Zimmerman in the second quarterfinal. Senior Brielle Fannin led the Cougars with two goals and an assist. Sophomore Sivanna O’Brien, senior Lauren Sheets and junior Emily Moes also scored two goals apiece for Lakeville South.

In the third semifinal, No. 4 Benilde-St. Margaret’s squeaked by No. 5 Gentry 8-7 in overtime on a goal from sophomore Maggie Grazcyk. Senior Tilly Wolfe and Grazcyk tallied three goals apiece for the Red Knights. Sophomore Julia Evens added two goals and two assists for Benilde-St. Margaret’s.

Top-seeded Chanhassen dismissed Stillwater Area 18-4 in the final quarterfinal of the day. Sophomore Gabrielle Bjugan and junior Grace Thomes paced the Storm with four goals apiece. Senior Isabella Detienne added three goals and two assists.
