
Established in 2025, the Minnesota State High School League Official of the Year is the highest honor awarded by the MSHSL officiating program.
Who is considered for Official of the Year?
One award is presented annually for each MSHSL activity that uses eligible officials: Adapted Hockey, Adapted Soccer, Adapted Softball, Baseball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Dance Team, Football, Girls Gymnastics, Boys Hockey, Girls Hockey, Boys Lacrosse, Girls Lacrosse, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Girls Softball, Boys Swimming and Diving, Girls Swimming and Diving, Boys Track and Field, Girls Track and Field, Boys Volleyball, Girls Volleyball and Wrestling.
Official of the Year honorees have made significant contributions to MSHSL officiating and high school activities. These individuals have contributed to overall betterment of officiating at the high school level.
Among the factors for consideration:
- Significant or long-term contributions to interscholastic officiating.
- A longstanding and distinguished record of promoting officiating at the local and state level.
- Recognition among colleagues for excellence.
- Sets the standard in humility and service to the officiating avocation.
- Leadership at the association or MSHSL level that places them among the best of the officiating program.
How to nominate an Official of the Year
Fill out this MSHSL.org form to nominate an official for an MSHSL Official of the Year award.
Nominations are accepted throughout the year. Those submitted by April 1 are considered for that academic year's awards. Those submitted after April 1 carry over to the next year.
Note: A photo of the official is required upon submission of the nomination.
