Alpine Skiing: State Meet Advance Release

Alpine Skiing kicks off three days of state meets on the snow on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at Giants Ridge Golf and Ski Resort near Biwabik on Minnesota’s Iron Range. More than 170 participants and 16 teams in both boys and girls have qualified for the annual event. The event is held on the Helsinki and Innsbruck races courses on the west side of the resort area.

Minnetonka captured both team championships for boys and girls during the 2022 state meet. The Skippers’ boys team returns with an opportunity to successfully defend their state championship. New individual champions will also emerge in both the boys and girls divisions. Cook County/Silver Bay is the only team to qualify for the state meet in both boys and girls. The Vikings won the Section 7 crown in both genders.

Qualifying boys teams:

  • Minneapolis Washburn, Stillwater Area, Minnetonka, Benilde-St. Margaret’s, Edina, Lakeville North, Cook County/Silver Bay, Blaine.

Qualifying girls teams:

  • Hill-Murray, Minneapolis Southwest, St. Cloud Area, Blake, Eagan, Prior Lake/Farmington, Cook County/Silver Bay, Duluth East.
