Boys Lacrosse Championship - Benilde-St. Margaret's 16, Prior Lake 6

Benilde-St. Margaret’s (17-1) lived up to the hype as the Red Knights defeated Prior Lake (15-4) 16-6 in the title game. Benilde-St. Margaret’s came in as the No. 1 seed and Prior Lake was No. 3.

The was the fourth championship for the Red Knights. They won previously in 2007, 2010 and 2011.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s used consistent scoring to handily defeat the Lakers. The Red Knights netted three goals in the first quarter, four in both the second and third, and five in the fourth. Nine different players scored for Benilde, led by senior midfielder Patrick Burns and senior attacker Matthew Dowden, who struck for four goals apiece. Carson Brandt, a sophomore attacker, also tallied four points on two goals and two assists.

Keller Gonyeah was the only Prior Lake player to score multiple goals, finishing with two for the game.

This was the second time these teams met this season. Benilde won the first match-up 13-6.
