Boys Swimming and Diving State Meet: Breck/Blakes captures seventh consecutive Class A team title

The co-op of Breck/Blake won its seventh consecutive team title with 408 points. It was the ninth title overall for Breck/Blake. In addition to the past seven years, the team also won in 2009 and 2010. St. Thomas Academy placed second with 204 points and Orono was third at 167.

Breck/Blake won six individual events and all three relays on its way to the championship. Senior Charlie Egeland finished in the top spot in both the 200 individual medley (1:48.08) and the 100 breaststroke (53.84). Senior Jack Schurtz-Ford also won two events for Breck/Blake. He finished at 44.85 in the 100 freestyle and at 49.78 in the 100 backstroke.

Sophomore Henry Webb and junior Josiah March were the final two individual winners for Breck/Blake. Webb won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:38.14 and March won the 500 freestyle in 4:34.39.

The team from Breck/Blake earned its sixth consecutive championship in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.45. Schurtz-Ford, Egeland, senior Nam Truong and junior Cayden Liao were members of that team. The squad of Webb, junior Andrew Colgan, Truong and March added a third consecutive title in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.27.

Breck/Blake earned its final points by defending its crown in the 400 freestyle relay. Webb, Schurtz-Ford, Liao and Egeland completed that race in 3:02.58.

Conner Hogan, a junior from Hutchinson, was the only other competitor to win two individual events. He captured his second consecutive title in the 100 butterfly (48.93) and also won the 50 freestyle (20.21).
