Semifinals are set in the Class A and Class AA singles and doubles brackets with one day of play left in the Minnesota State High School League's 2025 Boys Tennis State Tournament.

First-round, quarterfinal and consolation first-round matches were held Thursday at Reed Sweatt Family Tennis Center (Class A) and Baseline Tennis Center (Class AA) in Minneapolis.

Class A Singles

The top four seeds set up a fantastic Friday in the singles tournament.

  • Last year's runner-up and this year's No. 1 seed, ninth-grader Winston Arvidson of St. Paul Academy dropped only one set in his two matches Thursday. He'll face No. 4 seed Wyatt Helberg of North Branch, a 6-3, 6-1 victor over Redwood Valley No. 5 seed Zack Lundeen.
  • Lundeen prevailed in perhaps the match of the day, a first-round marathon that neared the three-hour mark before ending at 10:54 a.m. with a smash from Lundeen. That finalized a 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (5) victory over Schaeffer Academy's Hudson Zimmerman.
  • No. 2 seed Joshua Cook of Minnehaha Academy got past a quarterfinal challenge from Cloquet's Ethan Lavan, 6-3, 7-6 (3). Cook will face No. 3 seed Evan Ritter of Rochester Lourdes, who's looking to better his bronze-medal finish from last season.

Class A Doubles

Both St. Paul Academy duos, the top two seeds, remained alive after contributing to the Spartans' team championship earlier this week.

  • No. 1 Jacob Colton and Ben Macedo withstood a quarterfinal test from Foley's Aaron VanderWeyst and Jack Erkens, 6-4, 7-6 (3). They'll face No. 5 Andy Fink and Joseph Palen of Rochester Lourdes on Friday after that duo's 6-2, 6-3 win over No. 4 Enzo Petto and Rocco Zoyo of Breck.
  • No. 2 Isaak Senaratna and Allan Wang were dominant in a 6-0, 6-0 quarterfinal victory to set up a semifinal meeting with No. 3 Hamilton Brewer and Logan Granseth of Cotter.

Class AA Singles

Three of the four matches went to a third set in a thrilling quarterfinal round, yet the top four seeds all advanced.

  • No. 1 seed Soren Swenson of Mounds View got past Minnetonka's Brody Barbeau, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Blake No. 4 seed Tarun Gopalakrishnan rallied to beat No. 5 Brandon Pham of Mahtomedi, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.
  • Aaron Beduhn of Wayzata was in the final four first, thanks to a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Carter Michaels of Eagan. Last year's runner-up, Beduhn will face No. 3 Bode Campbell of Bloomington Jefferson, who held off Elk River's Aaron Zoubek, 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.
  • Both semifinal pairings also met in the regular season. Swenson (6-3, 5-7, 6-2) and Beduhn (7-5, 6-2) were victorious in those May matches.

Class AA Doubles

Just like singles, three of the four doubles quarterfinals played to three sets, but not every top-four seed moved on.

  • The top seed came back to book its spot in the semis. Wayzata's Jacob Salisbury and Rishi Ranjith overcame a first-set defeat to top Cambridge-Isanti's Keagen Lowman and Micah Gustafson 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. Salisbury and Ranjith next face Eden Prairie's Varin Tangeti and Zayden Chau — 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 winners over Rochester Mayo's Caleb Kennel and Noah Wisniewski — in the 4-5 matchup.
  • No. 2 Anthony Perrill and Quinn Martini and Orono nearly swept through the first two rounds, winning by scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2.
  • Mounds View's Max Daigle and Anders Swenson ended the day by upsetting No. 3 Andy Norman and Thomas Loucks of Edina, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
