Boys Tennis State Tournament 2025: Key things to know

Minneapolis will welcome some of Minnesota’s best tennis players this week as Baseline Tennis Center (Class AA) and Reed Sweatt Family Tennis Center (Class A) host the MSHSL 2025 Boys Tennis State Tournament from June 3-6.

Here are a few key things to know.

Class A

Schedule: Team competition is Tuesday and Wednesday, singles and doubles play Thursday and Friday. Matches begin at 8 a.m. all four days. Team championships are at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The singles and doubles championship matches are at 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Returning champions: St. Paul Academy and Summit School is the top-seeded team in search of a fourth consecutive state championship that would tie the record set by Rochester from 1962-1965.

Top seeds: Last year’s runner-up, St. Paul Academy ninth-grader Winston Arvidson is the No. 1 seed in the singles bracket. Senior teammates Jacob Colton and Ben Macedo received the top doubles seed. St. Paul Academy also has the No. 2 doubles pairing in sophomore Isaak Senaratna and junior Allan Wang as the Spartans attempt to sweep the gold medals for the second year in a row.

More teams to watch: No. 2 seed Rock Ridge took fourth a year ago. Runner-up last year, Breck is the No. 5 seed. Foley and Minnewaska Area are also returning qualifiers.

More players to watch: Evan Ritter of Rochester Lourdes earned singles bronze in 2024 and returns as the No. 3 seed. Minnehaha Academy junior Joshua Cook is seeded second. Sophomore Wyatt Helberg of North Branch Area is seeded fourth. Cotter juniors Hamilton Brewer and Logan Granseth received the No. 3 doubles seed. Enzo Petto and Rocco Zoyo of Breck are seeded fourth.

Class AA

Returning champions: No. 1 seed Wazyata is chasing a three-peat in the team bracket. Among the returning Trojans is junior Jacob Salisbury, a doubles state champion last year who is paired with classmate Rishi Ranjith as this season’s top seed.

Top seeds: Mounds View sophomore Soren Swenson earned the No. 1 seed in the singles bracket. Along with the top team and doubles seeds, Wayzata has the No. 2 singles player in senior and reigning runner-up Aaron Beduhn.

More teams to watch: Rochester Mayo is the No. 3 seed after two consecutive runner-up finishes. Eden Prairie, Eagan and No. 5 seed Elk River were also in last year’s field. Second-seeded Edina has claimed a record 19 state championships, most recently in 2021, and finished second to Wayzata in the Lake Conference.

More players to watch: A quarterfinalist last season, Bloomington Jefferson senior Bode Campbell is seeded third in the singles bracket. Blake junior Tarun Gopalakrishnan is fourth. Orono’s Quinn Martini and Anthony Perrill are the second doubles seed following last year’s silver-medal finish. The No. 3 seed is the pairing of Edina juniors Andy Norman and Thomas Loucks. Eden Prairie's Varin Tangeti and Zayden Chau are fourth. Chau was part of last year's fourth-place duo, while Tangeti was a singles quarterfinalist.
