Class A Boys Hockey State Consolation Semifinal Monticello 3, Mankato East/Loyola 1

Monticello extended its season to one last game on the final day of the season with a 3-1 victory over Mankato East/Loyola in the Class A consolation semifinals on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 3M Arena at Mariucci on the University of Minnesota campus.

The Moose (14-15-1) scored a goal in each period and senior goalie Michael Biller made 22 saves to secure the victory. Senior forward Cody Russel had a goal and two assists while junior forward Tyler Miller had two assists in sending the Moose to the consolation final on Saturday against the winner of Thursday’s other consolation semifinal between New Prague and Minneapolis. Senior forward Brooks Wilson and senior forward Wilson Dahlheimer supplied the two other Monticello goals.

Senior forward Quintin Steindl had the lone goal for the Cougars (17-12-1).
