My Sports and Activities
Continuing Education Requirements (CER)
Per MSHSL Board Policy, all sports coaches at the B-Squad, JV and Varsity level and all fine arts coaches and directors (in Speech, Debate and One Act Play) are required to complete the League’s Continuing Education Requirements (CER) one time during a three-year period.
For the 2023-2026 Continuing Education Requirement (CER) cycle, there are 4 required modules. All 4 CER modules must be completed prior to the first competition of your season.
Annual Requirements
Per MSHSL Board Policy, all coaches at the B-Squad, JV and Varsity level are required to complete the general online rules meeting and sport-specific rules interpretation meeting annually for each sport they coach.

MN Head Coach Requirements
Head Coach Licensure (MS122A.33)
Individuals who wish to serve as a head coach in a Minnesota public high school and do not have a Minnesota Teaching and Coaching License issued by the Department of Education may meet the Head Coach requirement of MS122A.33 in one of three ways. If you believe you meet the MN State Statute requirement in one of the ways listed below, please have your Activities Director verify and update your certification information. If you need to register for one of our MN Head Coaches Courses, additional information can be found at www.mshsl.org/mnhcc.
Coaching Minor or Equivalency - One college credit in coaching theory or methods AND Six college credits in Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries. | |

MN Head Coaches Course - Coaches who attend the in-person MN Head Coaches Course and complete two on-line modules; Fundamentals of Coaching and Safety and First Aid, will meet the requirements of MS122A.33 - Head Coach Licensure. |
