Nordic Skiing bonds friendship, fuels competition of Diggins, Hart

Before Stillwater Area High School’s Jessie Diggins became a worldwide Olympic sensation in Nordic Skiing, she and St. Paul Academy’s Annie Hart were two of the most dynamic competitors in Minnesota State High School League competitions. In 2010, leading up to what was expected to be a dandy duel between the friends, the St. Paul Pioneer Press previewed their final high school race and then captured the most dazzling, heart-stopping finish in Nordic Skiing. Congrats To Mike Dreier On Making History

New London-Spicer girls basketball coach Mike Dreier recorded his 1,000th career victory as the Wildcats defeated Watertown-Mayer 60-36. He is the first girls basketball coach in Minnesota to win 1,000 games.

Byron graduate Ayoka Lee sets NCAA scoring record

Ayoka Lee, a 2018 graduate of Byron High School, set the NCAA women's basketball single-game scoring record on February 23, 2022. Lee, who is a junior at Kansas State University, scored 61 points in a 94-65 victory over the University of Oklahoma.

John’s Journal: More Basketball History In The Offing For Dreier

When New London-Spicer faces Litchfield on Tuesday night, Mike Dreier will have 999 career victories. Should it end with New London-Spicer winning, Dreier will become only the second coach in Minnesota high school basketball history – and the first girls coach -- with 1,000 wins.

Skylar Wang of Blake earns second consecutive Public Forum title

Skylar Wang of Blake earned her second consecutive Public Form championship with new partner Elizabeth Terveen. This was also the third consecutive Public Forum title for Blake. Wang and Joshua Enebo won in 2021 and Morgan Swigert and Jack Johnson claimed top honors in 2020.

2022 Debate State Tournament begins on January 14

The Debate State Tournament, the Minnesota State High School League’s longest-running event, marks its 121st anniversary. Minneapolis South's Clara Conry and Blake's Skylar Wang both return in search of more gold. Conry competes in Policy and Wang competes in Public Forum.
